What kriya we have to do in derasar for varshitap?

    6 months ago 90

In Varshitap, the main “kriyā” is the tapasya itself (alternate‑day upvās for about a year). In derasar, you don’t need any special, separate ritual — you follow normal, shāstra‑based derasar maryādā, but with Varshitap‑bhāv.

In simple steps (mainly Śvetāmbara mūrtipūjak style; follow your local guru/mandir rules):

    1. Before starting Varshitap

    - Take proper pachchakkhān for Varshitap from your guru or in front of Jina idol. - Decide pattern (upvās / biyāsan / ekāsan) only as per guru and your health. ( jainknowledge.com)

    1. Daily, when you go to derasar

    - Go with shuddhāchār: snān, clean clothes (preferably white), no leather, silence. ( jainknowledge.com) - At entrance do nissihi, then Navkār Mantra and panchāng‑pranām. - Do pradakṣiṇā of the main vedi and simple darshan. - Sit calmly and do: - Navkār Mantra (many do 9 times), - Logassa / Chauvisattho, - Chaityavandan or short sāmāyik, svādhyāy, kāyotsarg as you can. ( jainknowledge.com)

    1. On upvās (fast) days

    - Keep only boiled water as per your maryādā. - Spend more time in derasar or at home in dhyān, svādhyāy, pratikraman. - Avoid gossip, mobile, business talk in derasar; keep mind on Rishabhdev’s Varshitap and on kashāya‑shānti (anger, mān, māyā, lobh). ( jainknowledge.com)

    1. On eating days (biyāsan / ekāsan)

    - Before or after meal, do derasar darshan. - Offer simple dravya‑pujā or only bhāv‑pujā (Navkār, stavan, chaityavandan), as allowed in your mandir. ( jainknowledge.com)

    1. End of Varshitap (Parnā on Akshaya Tritiyā)

    - Go to derasar in the morning, do special darshan, chaityavandan / pūjā. - Break Varshitap with gannā‑ras (sugarcane juice) or as told by guru, remembering Lord Ṛṣabhdev’s parnā. ( jainknowledge.com)

Digambar note: In many Digambar saṅghs the duration/mode of Varshitap may be shorter or different, but derasar‑kriyā idea is same: shuddha darshan, jap, dhyān, svādhyāy, and humility; follow your local ācārya’s maryādā. ( jainknowledge.com)
