In Jain tradition this tapasya is called Varshi Tap / Varshitap (not “Varahi” tap).

Start tithi (every year) Varshitap traditionally starts on Chaitra Shukla Ashtami (8th day of the bright half of Chaitra, Jain lunisolar calendar). It then ends next year on Vaishakh Shukla Tritiya (Akshaya Tritiya) with parna (usually sugarcane juice).

For 2026

• Start: Chaitra Shukla 8 (Varshitap beginning)
• Parna: Vaishakh Shukla 3 (Akshaya Tritiya) – which falls on Monday, 20 April 2026.

For the exact Gregorian start date in your city, please check a local Jain Panchang, because the lunar tithi-to-date mapping can vary slightly by location.
