Give me varshitap timetable
Here is a simple Varshitap timetable / pattern (for a full-year Varshitap of Bhagwan Rishabhdev):
---
1. Basic period (kāl)
- Start: Chaitra Shukla 8 (चैत्र शुक्ल अष्टमी)
- End / Pārṇā: Vaishakh Shukla 3 (वैशाख शुक्ल तृतीया – Akha Trij / Akshay Tritiya) of the next year
- Exact English (Gregorian) dates change every year – always confirm from a Jain Panchāng of that year.
You can see a related explanation here:
---
2. Daily pattern
Traditional Varshitap is:
- Day 1 – Upvās (complete fast; only boiled water in fixed time as per maryādā)
- Day 2 – Ekāsan / Beāsan (eat once, or at most twice, in one sitting)
- Then repeat the same pattern for the full period.
So the cycle is:
> Upvās → Ekāsan → Upvās → Ekāsan → … > continuously, from start tithi until the Pārṇā day.
(Some do upvās–upvās–ekāsan, or other stricter variants, but the common standard is 1 day fast, 1 day ekāsan.)

3. Special points during the year
Exact practice can vary by sangh, but commonly:
- No break
- Generally, no “gap” is kept in between. - If health forces a break, take guidance from guru / learned shravak and adjust.
- Poonam / Chaturthi / Chhath etc.
- Many sanghs keep upvās on important tithis (Poonam, Ashtami, Chaturdashi, etc.) even if that day would normally be ekāsan. - Follow your local sangh’s standard timetable or your guru’s instructions.
- Pārṇā (ending Varshitap)
- Always on Vaishakh Shukla 3 – Akha Trij (Akshaya Tritiya). - Do Pārṇā only after proper Pratikraman, Khamāsan, Pachchhakkhān, etc., in presence of sādhu/saṁyami or as per your upādhyay / pāṭhśālā guidance.
---
4. How to practically make your timetable
- Take a Jain Panchāng for that year.
- Mark:
- Start tithi: Chaitra Shukla 8 - End tithi: Vaishakh Shukla 3 (next year)
- From the start tithi:
- Mark Day 1 = Upvās, - Day 2 = Ekāsan, - and continue alternately till the last day.
- On Poonam, Aatham, Chaudas, Ashtami, etc., overwrite according to your sangh’s standard (often they keep upvās).
If you tell your year / country / city to a local Jain society or temple, they can usually give you a printed or PDF Varshitap calendar matching your time zone and tithis.

5. Short spiritual reminder
- Varshitap is not only about counting fasts, but about:
So while timetable is important, bhāva (inner feeling) is most important.
