Can we eat non veg
In Jainism, eating non‑veg (meat, fish, eggs, etc.) is not allowed.
Why? – Based on Jain Dharma
- The main principle of Jainism is Ahimsa (non‑violence).
- Non‑veg food always comes from killing or harming five‑sensed beings (animals, birds, fish).
- This is considered big himsa (violence) and goes directly against Jain vows.
- Therefore, Jains follow a strictly vegetarian diet and also try to avoid foods that cause harm to even smaller lives (like root vegetables, honey, etc., depending on one’s level of practice).
So, according to Jain Dharma:
- Meat – No
- Fish – No
- Eggs – No (including egg in cake, mayonnaise, etc.)
