Important guidelines
- Health first
- If you have any medical issue, do it only after advice from doctor and guidance from a Jain guru / knowledgeable elder. - If full upvas is not possible, you may reduce (e.g., only ekasana/ayambil), but take proper pachchhakhyan (vow) accordingly.
- Purity of food
- No night eating. - Avoid root vegetables, honey, alcohol, eggs etc. as per Jain rules you follow. - Eat simple, non‑spicy, minimum variety.
- Not only body‑fast, but mind‑fast
- Control anger, greed, pride, deceit. - Avoid himsa in thoughts, words and actions. - More silence, less talking.
- Take proper pachchhakhyan
- Before starting Day 1, take a formal vow in front of Dev‑Guru‑Dharma (even at home), mentioning: - “I will do Shrenik Tap of 8 days with this pattern, as per my capacity.”
