People count Girnar steps in two ways:

1. Till the main Jain / Ambaji side (mid‑point)

- From taleti (base) up to the main Jain temple / Ambaji area is about 4,000–4,500 steps (roughly 3–4 km of climb).

1. Till the last peak (Dattatreya / top shikhar)

- From base till the final peak is traditionally said to be 9,999 steps – in simple words, around 10,000 steps.

So, if you just do Jain mandir / Ambaji, think of ~4–5 thousand steps. If you go all the way to the top, think of ~10 thousand steps total.
