Paryushan does not have one fixed English (Gregorian) date every year.

• It always starts in the Jain month of Bhadrapad, on Shukla Panchami (5th day of the bright fortnight).
• This usually falls sometime in August or early September.
• Shwetambar Jains observe 8 days (ending in Samvatsari).
• Digambar Jains observe Das Lakshan Parva for 10 days, usually starting the day after Shwetambar Paryushan ends.

Because it is based on the lunar tithi, the exact start date changes every year and can differ slightly by country/city and local Jain Sangh.

To know “when Paryushan will start” for you this year, the most accurate way is:

1. Check a Jain Panchang for your region, or
2. Ask your local Jain temple / Sangh (they usually publish a calendar with exact dates and timings).
