2. Family photos and normal decoration

• Keeping family photos, children’s photos, marriage photos, etc. on the walls is common among Jains in India.
• Jain dharma does not forbid normal photos in the house.
• Only care should be:

- Do not mix ordinary photos on the same level/place as the ghar‑mandir area. - Avoid very sensual or violent pictures, as they disturb shubha bhavna (pure thoughts).

Digambar / Shvetambar differences

• On this matter, there is no strict sect rule like “never hang photos.”
• Differences are more about:

- How a home temple is arranged - What type of images/idols are preferred

• In all traditions, the main point is shraddha and maryada – respect and purity.

So, yes: Indian Jains do hang photos on their home walls, both of Tirthankars (in a respectful place) and of family members (as normal decoration), as long as they follow cleanliness and respect for religious images.
