1. Social / family gotra (clan name)

- This is a family / lineage label, used mainly by some Jain lay communities (especially many Śvetāmbar Jains like Oswal, Porwal, etc.). 1. Gotra karma (status‑determining karma)

- In Jain philosophy, gotra is also one of the eight karmas (aṣṭa‑karma) – it decides high/low status, respect, surroundings you are born into. ( jainknowledge.com) - This karmic gotra is invisible; only an Omniscient (Kevalī Bhagwān) truly knows it, not ordinary people.

So:

• If you are asking “What is my family gotra?” → Only your family elders / documents can tell you; Jain dharma itself does not fix it.
• If you are asking “What is my karmic gotra?” → That is part of your gotra karma, and we humans cannot see it.
