    Satawat kuldevi and kuldevta

    6 months ago 129

In Jain dharm there is no fixed or shastriya list of kuldevi–kuldevta for any kul (clan) – including Satawat.

    Some important points:

    1. Jain focus is different

    - Jains mainly worship Arihant, Siddha, Tirthankar, Kevali, and sometimes yaksha–yakshini connected to Tirthankars. - Kuldevi / kuldevta traditions are usually parivaarik–sanskritik parampara, not part of core Jain philosophy.

    1. Kuldevi / kuldevta are family‑specific

    - Even within the same kul (for example Satawat), different families may follow different kuldevi or kuldevta. - Names of kuldevi/kuldevta are usually known through: - Buzurg (elders) of the family - Old family records - Ancestral village / kul mandir - This information is not preserved in Jain Agam or standard Jain granths.

    1. For Satawat specifically

    - There is no authoritative Jain list I can rely on to say: “This is the kuldevi / kuldevta of Satawat kul.” - The only accurate way is to: - Ask your dada–dadi / nana–nani / chacha–tau / mamaji etc. - Visit your gaon / ancestral town and ask the local Jain or kul samaj. - Check if your community has a Satawat samaj / trust / WhatsApp group / website where such details are recorded.

    1. Jain view (maryada)

    - If your family follows a kuldevi/kuldevta, Jains usually keep it within maryada: - No himsa (no bali, no alcohol, etc.) - Keep main shraddha only towards Tirthankar and Siddha bhagwan - Kuldevi/kuldevta is seen as parivaar ki parampara, not as the highest spiritual refuge.

You can read a short explanation on “Jaino ni kuldevi?” here

So: for Satawat kul, the correct names can only be given by your own family / community records; Jain shastra or Jain tradition does not fix one universal kuldevi or kuldevta for “Satawat.”
