You are going through a very real and painful phase. Losing a job + losing hard‑earned money + pressure to “recover” is a heavy load on mind and soul. Let’s see this calmly from Jain drashti and also practically.

    ---

    1. Is F&O trading a sin in Jainism?

In Jain Dharma, any work is judged mainly by:

    • Bhāva (inner intention) – krodh, mān, māyā, lobh increase pāp karma.
    • Himsā / asatya / chaurya involved or not
    • Aparigraha – is it increasing attachment and greed?

F&O (futures & options) trading usually:

    • Is driven by lobh (greed) and jua‑jaisi mansikata (gambling mindset)
    • Creates intense anxiety, anger, fear
    • Often becomes an addiction – repeatedly taking big risks to “recover” losses

Because of this, for most people:

    > F&O trading becomes a strong cause of pāp karma, even if it is not a direct physical violence like killing.

    So:

    • Technically, trading itself is not listed in āgams as a specific mahāpāp.
    • But the mental states it creates (lobh, moh, krodh) are clearly sinful in Jain terms.
    • In your case, since it is causing you pain, restlessness, and more greed (“I must recover”), for you, F&O is definitely spiritually unhealthy.
