Shankeshwar (Shankheshwar) Parshwanath is not a different Tirthankar – he is Bhagwan Parshwanath, the 23rd Tirthankar, specially worshipped in the form of the ancient idol installed at Shankheshwar tirth in Gujarat.

• Who is he?

He is Bhagwan Parshwanath, the same 23rd Tirthankar, but known with the special name “Shankeshwar Parshwanath” because of the famous Jain pilgrimage place (tirth) called Shankheshwar where his pratima is installed.

• Why is he famous?

- His tirth is considered very powerful for prarthana (prayer) and upsarg‐nash (removal of difficulties). - Many Jains have strong faith that sincere bhakti of Shankeshwar Parshwanath with vrat, japa and samayik helps in reducing karmic troubles and giving inner peace. - He is one of the most popular Parshwanath forms in the Shwetambar tradition (like Shankheshwar Parshwanath, Panchasara Parshwanath, etc.).

- Usual lanchhan (symbol): snake hood (five or more hoods) over the head. - Posture: generally Padmasan or Kayotsarg. - Colour: often green / blue‐green for Parshwanath, though actual idol colour can differ.
