When in 2026 we can eat mango

    6 months ago 115

For Jains, there is no specific religious prohibition on eating mango in 2026 as such. The main points to consider are:

    1. Seasonal (natural) time for mango

In India, mango is generally a summer fruit: - Early varieties start around April–May - Peak season is usually May–June - In many places it continues till July, sometimes a bit later depending on region and variety

So, in 2026, you can naturally expect to eat fresh, seasonal mango roughly from April to July, varying by place and variety.

    1. Jain dharmic considerations

    - Ensure the fruit is well-ripened naturally, not force-ripened with chemicals. - Avoid fruits that involve unnecessary himsā (e.g., lots of insects around, careless plucking, etc.). - On Pachkhan / personal vows days (e.g., some people avoid certain fruits or evening food), follow your own aṅgī / niyam given by guru or tradition.

    1. Cold storage & off-season

    - Today mango is available in off-season via storage or imports. - From a Jain viewpoint, prefer locally grown, in-season fruit to reduce overall himsā and unnecessary resources.

So, purely by calendar, in 2026 you may eat mango whenever available, but the best and most dharmic time is the local natural mango season, roughly April–July in most of India, while observing your personal Jain vows and minimizing himsā.
