In Varshitap if we so one day upvas and and one day coviyar then it's k

    6 months ago 87

In Varshitap, the main rule is:

    • One day Upvas (full fast)
    • Next day bhojan (generally Ekasan or Beasan), as per niyam and guru’s guidance

If by “coviyar” you mean Chauvihar (no food or water after sunset) on the eating day, then:

    • Yes, it is generally acceptable to do:
    - Day 1 – Upvas - Day 2 – One proper Jain meal (often Ekasan/Beasan), with Chauvihar afterward

    This is actually better, because:

    • You are keeping strong restraint (no night eating),
    • But you still take a clear, sufficient meal on the eating day, which is how Varshitap is traditionally done.

    Important points:

    1. Varshitap is not meant as “one day Upvas, one day very light nibbling.”

The eating day should be a proper niyam-baddh meal (Ekasan/Beasan, or as your guru has set).

    1. Exact pattern (Upvas + what type of bhojan, water rules, etc.) can slightly differ by:

    - Shwetambar / Digambar tradition - Local pravachan / guru’s instructions

    So, practically:

    • If your guru has allowed “Upvas one day, next day normal Varshitap bhojan with Chauvihar” – then it is fully fine.
    • Do not change the pattern on your own; keep one fixed niyam for the whole Varshitap.
