This event is significant in Jain texts and is frequently mentioned in Jain literature and pilgrimage lore.

Hastinapur is an important Jain tirtha (pilgrimage site) associated with this event. According to Jain scriptures, Bharata gave up his kingdom, became a monk, practiced severe penance, and finally achieved liberation along with a large group of ascetics at this holy site.
