How many chath in varshitap for the year 2026

    6 months ago 98

In Varshitap, “chath” means the upvaas (full fast) days in the alternate‑day pattern:

    • 1st day – full upvaas (chath)
    • 2nd day – bhojan / ekāsan
    • 3rd day – upvaas (chath)
    • 4th day – bhojan
    • … and so on, till Akshay Tritiya (pārṇā).

So, the total number of chath is basically “about half” of the total Varshitap days between your saṅkalp (start tithi) and pārṇā (end tithi).

For the 2026 Varshitap cycle, the exact count of chath:

    • depends on the Jain lunar calendar (tithi),
    • and on how many days actually fall between Chaitra Shukla Ashtami (start) and Vaishakh Shukla Tritiya / Akshay Tritiya (pārṇā) in that specific year (including any adhik māsa etc.).

Because this is a precise panchāng calculation, the exact number of chath for 2026 Varshitap can only be given correctly by:

    • your local Jain panchāng / Jain calendar, or
    • the Varshitap list published by your sangh (they usually give total days and total chath clearly).

Practically, it usually comes to around 200 chath (upvaas days), but the exact count for 2026 must be taken from the official Jain panchāng or local sangh notice for that year’s Varshitap.
