Give me a story for project of ‘shashan sevak (jain saints)’

    one year ago 99

Certainly! Here is a story illustrating the role of a Shashan Sevak (servant of the Jain order), focusing on devotion and service to Jain saints:

    ---

Title: The Devotion of Shashan Sevak Chandan

Once in the ancient city of Champapuri, there lived a humble Jain named Chandan. Chandan was not wealthy, but he was deeply devoted to Jain Dharma and especially revered the Jain saints (sadhus and sadhvis), considering them as the torchbearers of Lord Mahavira’s teachings.

Every morning, Chandan would visit the local upashray (place where saints stay) and offer his services. He would carefully clean the upashray, ensuring the saints had a peaceful environment for their spiritual practices. He brought fresh water, prepared simple meals in accordance with Jain rules of ahimsa (non-violence), and respectfully listened to the discourses.

One day, a group of Jain saints arrived in Champapuri after a long vihar (journey on foot). The townspeople came to offer them food and seek blessings, but Chandan noticed that the saints’ feet were sore and dusty from walking barefoot. Without hesitation, Chandan gently washed their feet with clean water, offered soft grass mats for them to rest, and fanned them as they meditated.

A wealthy merchant, seeing Chandan’s service, mocked him, “Why do you waste your time serving these saints? You could earn money instead!” Chandan replied, “Serving the shashan (Jain order) and its saints is the greatest fortune. By caring for them, I am upholding the teachings of Lord Mahavira and practicing humility, compassion, and selflessness.”

The chief saint, observing Chandan’s sincerity, blessed him and said, “A true shashan sevak is one who serves with pure intentions and without desire for reward. Your devotion is an example for all. You are helping to keep the flame of Jain Dharma alive.”

Inspired by Chandan, more people in Champapuri began to help the saints, listen to their teachings, and live according to Jain principles. The city flourished as a center of spiritual learning and peace.

Moral: A Shashan Sevak serves the Jain order and its saints selflessly, helping to preserve and spread the teachings of ahimsa, compassion, and spiritual discipline. Service to saints is not just an act of help, but a way to purify one’s own soul and benefit society.
