    kareda parshwanath story

    5 months ago 108

Here is a simple story / history of Shri Kareda Parshwanath Bhagwan:

    1. Where is Kareda Parshwanath? Kareda Parshwanath is a very old Jain tirth in Bhupalsagar, District Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. It is a Shwetambar Murtipujak Jain temple.

    2. Moolnayak idol

    • Nearly 90 cm high,
    • Black-coloured idol of Bhagwan Parshwanath,
    • In Padmasan (lotus posture),
    • With nine‑hooded serpent (nau‑phaṇī) as an umbrella above the head.
This special form is called Shri Kareda Parshwanath.

    3. Very ancient tirth During renovation of the temple, an old pillar with inscription of year “55” was found. This shows that the tirth existed even before the 1st Vikram Samvat – it is extremely ancient.

    4. Temple construction and major renovations

    • In Vikram Samvat 861,
Shri Kheemsingh Shah built a big and beautiful temple here. The pratishtha (consecration) of the idol of Shri Kareda Parshwanath was done by Acharya Shri Jayanandsurishwarji.
    • Around the main temple there were 52 small temples (bavan jinalay type parikrama).
    • In Vikram Samvat 1039, again big renovations and re‑installation were done under
    Acharya Shri Yashobhadrasurishwarji.
    • Later, a great shravak Shri Zhanzhan Shah, son of Shri Pethad Shah,
came here while going to Shatrunjay tirth. He saw the temple in poor condition, so out of great devotion he: - repaired and renovated the temple, - and even built a seven‑storey temple there (jo aaj maujood nahi hai).
    • In Vikram Samvat 1656, once more renovation took place.

    5. Saving the temple in difficult times In the times of Muslim invasions, many Jain temples were being broken. To protect this tirth, the top (shikhar) of the temple was made in the shape of a mosque. Because of this smart step, the temple was saved from destruction, and the idol of Kareda Parshwanath remained safe for us.

    6. Recent renovation The latest big renovation was done in Vikram Samvat 2033 under Acharya Shri Sushilsurishwarji. Even today, the tirth is active and well‑maintained, with dharmashala and bhojanshala facilities.

    7. Miraculous faith in Kareda Parshwanath

    • Devotees have strong faith that Bhagwan Kareda Parshwanath removes calamities (upadrav),
    problems and difficulties from life.
    • Many people feel they have received special krupa and chamatkar after doing
prarthana, aarti, pujan and navas here.

    8. Special day / fair Every year, on Posh (Paush) Krishna Dashami (10), the Janma Kalyanak of Bhagwan Parshwanath is celebrated here with great joy. Thousands of devotees come for:

    • snatra,
    • pujan,
    • shobha‑yatra,
    • bhakti, stavans and aarti.

    9. Importance in Jain tradition This tirth is mentioned in many Jain granths and stavans related to Parshwanath, and is counted among the important Parshwanath tirths of Rajasthan / Mewar region.
