In Jainism, Gudi Padwa is not a Jain religious festival.

It is mainly a Maharashtrian / Hindu New Year (Chaitra Shukla Pratipada). Many Jains living in Maharashtra and nearby regions may:

• Join neighbours in the social / cultural part (new clothes, special food, decorating home, visiting friends).
• But Jain religiously important New Year is different:

So, from a pure Jain dharmic point of view:

• Gudi Padwa has no special Jain scriptural status.
• A Jain should keep focus on:

- Diwali as Mahavir Nirvana Kalyanak - The next day as Jain New Year - Regular Jain practices: samayik, pratikraman, swadhyay, ahimsa, tapas, etc.

If Jains participate in Gudi Padwa socially, they should still:

• Avoid himsa (e.g., fireworks, wasteful celebrations harming beings)
• Maintain Jain values of simplicity and non‑attachment.
