Bhaktamar (Bhaktamar Stotra) is a very famous and sacred Jain stotra.

Bhaktamar Stotra is a Sanskrit hymn composed in praise of Bhagwan Adinath (Rishabhdev), the first Tirthankar.
Who wrote it?
It was composed by Acharya Manatunga.
Meaning of the word “Bhaktamar”
- “Bhakta” = devotee
- “Amar” = immortal
So, Bhaktamar means “the immortal devotion of a devotee” or “immortal garland of devotion”.
How many verses?
- In Digambar tradition: generally 48 shlokas
- In Shwetambar tradition: generally 44 shlokas
The bhav and purpose are the same in both.
What is it about?
Each verse praises the infinite qualities, purity, knowledge, and compassion of Bhagwan Adinath, and expresses deep bhakti (devotion), asking for:
- removal of obstacles and fears
- peace of mind
- spiritual progress and ultimately moksha.
Why do Jains recite it?
- For devotion and meditation on Tirthankar’s gunas (virtues)
- For strength in difficult times
- As a daily prayer in many Jain homes and temples
