Varshitap start to end date
Varshitap is calculated by tithi (lunar dates), not by simple calendar months.
Traditional rule (both Shwetambar & Digambar):
- Start (Sankalp): Chaitra Shukla 8 (चैत्र शुक्ल अष्टमी)
- End / Pārṇā: Next year on Vaishakh Shukla 3 (वैशाख शुक्ल तृतीया – Akshaya Tritiya / Akha Teej)
So in summary:
> Varshitap = from Chaitra Shukla 8 of one year > up to Vaishakh Shukla 3 (Akshaya Tritiya) of the next year.
For the current Varshitap whose Pārṇā is in 2026
- Start (Sankalp): Chaitra Shukla 8, 2025 → 5 April 2025 (approx., may vary slightly by location/panchang)
- End / Pārṇā: Vaishakh Shukla 3, 2026 (Akshaya Tritiya) → Monday, 20 April 2026
Different sanghs may adjust by one day depending on their panchang and sunrise timings, so always confirm exact dates with your local guru or Jain calendar.
