Why we pray parasnath more in hindi

    5 months ago 101

In Jain dharma, we pray to Bhagwan Parshvanath (Parasnath) a lot because of some special reasons, not because of language (Hindi / Gujarati / any other). I’ll explain simply:

    1. He is the 23rd Tirthankar

Parshvanath Bhagwan came just before Mahavir Bhagwan, so historically and spiritually he is very close to our current time compared to earlier Tirthankars. Because of this, many incidents of his life, temples, and stories are well‑known and popular.

    1. Very strong tradition of stotras and mantras

Many powerful Jain stotras are specially dedicated to Parshvanath, like: - Uvasaggaharam Stotra - Parshvanath Ashtak / Vandana These are widely recited for removal of obstacles, fear, illness, etc. So naturally, people feel “Parasnath ki bhakti se raksha milti hai” and devotion increases.

    1. Sammed Shikharji = Parshvanath’s moksha-bhumi

Parshvanath Bhagwan attained moksha on Sammed Shikharji, which is the most important tirth for both Shwetambar and Digambar traditions. Many tonks there are connected with him and other Tirthankars, so his remembrance is very strong in daily Jain life and yatras.

    1. Many famous idols and tirths of Parshvanath

There are countless historic and miraculous idols of Parshvanath (Kalikund Parshvanath, Shankheshwar Parshvanath, etc.). Families have been doing his puja for generations, so “Parasnath ni bhakti” has become a natural part of Jain culture.

    1. Compassion and protection in his life-story

In his earlier birth and also as Parshvanath, we hear stories of him saving living beings (like protecting the serpents from fire), forgiving enemies, and remaining in deep equanimity even under great trouble. Because of these stories, many people feel special emotional closeness and faith (shraddha) towards him.

    1. Hindi / local language is only for understanding

When you say, “Why do we pray Parasnath more in Hindi?” probably you see: - Many books, kirtans, pravachans about Parshvanath are in Hindi, so people easily understand. - But bhakti is not limited to any language. Mantras and stotras are mostly in Prakrit / Sanskrit, explanation is in Hindi, Gujarati, English, etc. We pray more to Parshvanath not “because of Hindi”, but because of his special place in Jain tradition, stotras, and tirths.
