In Jainism, Rajul (also known as Rajimati or Rajimati Devi) and Nemi (also known as Neminatha) are important figures connected by a well-known story:

Neminatha (Nemi): Neminatha is the 22nd Tirthankara (spiritual teacher) in the current time cycle according to Jain tradition. He is considered a highly revered and enlightened being who showed the path of liberation (moksha) to many souls. Neminatha was born into the Yadava dynasty, and Krishna (a prominent figure in Hinduism) is said to be his cousin according to Jain texts.

Rajul (Rajimati): Rajul or Rajimati was a princess, renowned for her beauty and virtue. According to Jain texts, she was betrothed to Neminatha. However, on the day of their wedding, as Neminatha was proceeding to the palace, he heard the cries of animals that were to be slaughtered for the marriage feast. This sight deeply moved him, and he decided to renounce the world and embrace asceticism to follow the path of non-violence (ahimsa). He abandoned the wedding and left worldly life.

Rajimati, too, later renounced worldly pleasures and became a nun, dedicating her life to spiritual practice and ultimately attaining liberation according to Jain tradition.

Their story is often cited in Jainism as an example of compassion, non-violence, and the pursuit of spiritual ideals over worldly attachments.
