What to say after aarti of jain
After Jain ārti, the most simple and proper thing to say is Namokār Mantra and then a short maṅgal (auspicious prayer).
Here is an easy sequence many Jains follow:
---
1. Namokār Mantra (always appropriate)
Prakrit / Sanskrit: `णमो अरिहंताणं` `णमो सिद्धाणं` `णमो आयरियाणं` `णमो उवज्झायाणं` `णमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं`
Meaning (simple):
- I bow to the Arihants (perfected living beings)
- I bow to the Siddhas (liberated souls)
- I bow to the Āchāryas (spiritual heads)
- I bow to the Upādhyāyas (spiritual teachers)
- I bow to all Sādhus (monks & nuns) in the universe
This mantra is the best and can be recited at any time, especially after ārti.
---
2. “Maṅgalam Bhagavān Vīro” (short maṅgal pāṭh)
Sanskrit / Hindi: `मंगलं भगवान वीरो` `मंगलं गौतमो गुरु:` `मंगलं कुन्दकुन्दाद्यो` `जैन धर्मोस्तु मंगलम्`
Transliteration: Mangalam Bhagavān Vīro Mangalam Gautamo Guruh Mangalam Kundakundādyah Jain Dharmostu Maṅgalam
Meaning (simple):
- Auspicious is Lord Mahāvīr
- Auspicious is Guru Gautam
- Auspicious are Āchāryas like Kundkund
- Auspicious is Jain Dharma
This is a very common maṅgal verse after ārti or pūjā.
---
3. Short Kṣamā (asking forgiveness – optional but very good)
Quietly in your mind, or aloud, you can say:
Prakrit: `खम्मेमि सव्वे जीवो`
or the full line: `खम्मेमि सव्वे जीवे, सव्वे जीवा खमंतु मे`
Simple meaning:
- I ask forgiveness from all living beings
- May all living beings forgive me
This keeps the end of ārti very pure and non‑violent in intention.
---
So, a simple practice after Jain ārti can be:
- Namokār Mantra
- “Maṅgalam Bhagavān Vīro…”
- (Optional) Kṣamā verse: “Khammemi Savve Jīve…”
Different temples and sects (Śvetāmbara / Digambara) may add more shlokas or stavans, but the Namokār Mantra + Maṅgalam is accepted everywhere.
