    inter caste marrige

In Jainism, intercaste marriage is not religiously forbidden.

Here is the simple, dharmic view:

    1. From Jain Dharma / Scriptures

    - Jain agamas and texts do not say that marrying in another caste is a sin. - Jain teachings focus on: - Ahimsa (non‑violence) - Satya (truth) - Asteya (non‑stealing) - Brahmacharya (sexual restraint / fidelity) - Aparigraha (non‑possessiveness) - The cleanliness of your conduct and karma is important, not your caste.

    1. Then why do many families oppose it?

    - That is mostly social and cultural, not religious: - Fear of losing Jain practices (veg food, no root vegetables, etc.) - Attachment to their own community/varna/region - Worry about social image and customs - These are customs (parampara), not commands of Jain Dharma.

    1. What is important in a Jain marriage?

    - Both partners should: - Respect Jain values (ahimsa, satya, etc.) - Support each other in following Jain way of life - Avoid himsa, addictions, and adharma - From dharmic view, such a marriage is acceptable, even if castes are different.

    1. Digambar / Shvetambar view

    - Both traditions encourage: - Protection of Jain principles - Simplicity and restraint in married life (grihastha-dharma) - Both have traditional preference for “within community” marriages, but again this is social, not a clear scriptural ban on intercaste marriage.

    1. Practical guidance

    - Think calmly about: - Will both of you follow ahimsa and Jain food rules? - Will there be respect for Jain puja, pratikraman, and festivals? - Try to: - Explain this peacefully to parents and elders - Avoid anger, insult, or breaking relationships – that also creates bad karma.
