What if during pooja i got my mensutration

In Jain dharma, your soul never becomes impure because of menstruation. Periods are a natural body process. The rules are only about ritual cleanliness (shuddhi) and maryādā (tradition).

If you get your periods in the middle of pūjā, you can think like this:

    1. If you are doing pūjā at home (with idol, dravya, etc.)

    • Gently stop the dravya‑pūjā (abhishek, touching idol, rice, flowers, etc.).
    • With respect, keep remaining pūjā items aside.
    • In your mind, do Namokār Mantra and ask forgiveness:
“If any mistake happened unknowingly, may it be forgiven.”

From that moment till your period days are over, traditionally you avoid:

    • Touching idols and pūjā items
    • Doing abhishek, aṅg‑pūjā, snātra, etc.
    • Handling scriptures

But you can and should continue bhakti in other ways:

    • Mental Navkār mantra
    • Stavan or bhajan softly (without touching idol/pūjā room)
    • Prārthanā (prayer) and good thoughts for all jīvas

    2. If you were in a temple and periods started

    • Quietly finish, step back, and stop further dravya‑pūjā.
    • Do darshan from a distance only if your temple’s rules allow.
    • After coming home, bathe when you can and rest; don’t feel guilty.

Traditionally during menstruation, many Jain families follow:

    • No entering garbhagṛha
    • No touching mūrti, śāstra, pūjā‑dravya

    But:

    • There is no scriptural rule that your atma is low or bad.
    • Inner bhakti, pratikraman‑bhāva, and kindness are always allowed.

    3. What to do after periods end

    Common practice:

    • When bleeding has fully stopped, take a good bath, wear fresh clean clothes, and then restart normal pūjā according to your family/temple maryādā.

If your local saṅgh or guru has given specific rules, follow those calmly.

    Most important:

    • Do not feel fear or sin‑guilt.
    • Menstruation is not a fault of the soul; it is just a time to keep a bit more external shuddhi and hygiene, and to focus more on bhāva‑pūjā (inner devotion).
