Jain scriptures describe Mahavir’s birth as divya (divine) and pavitra (pure):

• Indra and Devas (heavenly beings) celebrated the birth.
• In Shwetambar tradition, it is said Indra took the newborn Mahavir to Mount Meru for the Janma‑abhishek (ceremonial bathing) with celestial waters.
• There was great peace, prosperity, and happiness in the kingdom – crops flourished, people felt joyful, trade grew. That is why his childhood name was “Vardhaman” (one who brings growth/increase).
