What does a jeev experience when it does not cut it's connection with paap?
When a jīva does not break its connection with pāp (sinful karma), it continues to suffer in many visible and invisible ways, both now and in future births.
In simple points:
- Restless mind and inner unhappiness
- More anger, pride, deceit, greed. - Constant worry, fear, jealousy, guilt. - Even in comfortable situations, there is no real shānti (peace).
- Heavier bondage of karma
- Pāp attracts and binds aśubha (bad) karmas more strongly. - These karmas cover the true nature of the soul (infinite knowledge, faith, bliss). - The soul sinks deeper into saṃsār (cycle of birth and death).
- Painful results when pāp matures
When pāp‑karma gives its fruits, it brings: - Suffering of body (disease, injuries, discomfort). - Suffering of mind (depression, anxiety, constant dissatisfaction). - Obstacles in work, relationships, and spiritual practice. - Possibility of lower births (tiryañc – animal, narak – hellish) in future lives. - Distance from spiritual path
- Wrong belief gets stronger: “Enjoyment is everything, dharma later.” - Less interest in satsang, sādhu, scriptures, samayik, pratikraman. - Laziness and carelessness (pramād) increase. Slowly, the jīva becomes abhāvī type – not ready for moksha in the near future. ( jainknowledge.com)
- Increasing habit pattern of pāp
- Repeating the same sins creates a strong habit (vāsanā). - After some time, the jīva does pāp “automatically”, without even feeling it is wrong. - This deepens delusion (moha) and makes turning back more difficult (though never impossible).
- Missing the real purpose of life
- Human life is rare and meant for samyak darshan, samyak jñān, samyak chāritra. - Sticking to pāp means wasting this chance and wandering further in saṃsār, away from moksha.

What should a jīva do instead? (brief guidance)
- Stop new pāp: practice ahimsā, satya, asteya, brahmacharya, aparigraha in your capacity. ( jainknowledge.com)
- Reduce old pāp: daily pratikraman, asking forgiveness, doing small tapas (fasting/ekāsan/ayambil as health allows), seva, and especially chanting Navkār Mantra with right bhāva, which is said to destroy pāp‑karma. ( jainknowledge.com)
