What pachkan to take for aambil
For Aambil / Ayambil, Pachchakkhan should be very clear and simple:
1) When to take it
- In the morning, after snatra/pooja/samayik.
- Before taking any food or water.
- In front of Bhagwan, or in front of a guru/elder if possible.
---
2) Basic points to include in Pachchakkhan for Aambil
You should clearly say:
- I am doing Aambil / Ayambil today.
- Only one meal in the whole day.
- Food will be boiled, simple, bland (no oil, ghee, milk, curd, buttermilk, sugar, jaggery, masala, fried items, fruits, dry fruits, sour things, etc. – as per your sangh/guru’s rules).
- I will drink only boiled, filtered water in fixed time (say: sunrise to 5 pm or 6 pm).
- No food and no water after sunset (if you are keeping chauvihar with it).
- This niyam is for today only (sunrise to sunrise), unless you are doing many days – then mention the number of days.
---
3) Example Pachchakkhan (simple, in English)
“Today, in the presence of Arihant Parmatma, I take Pachchakkhan for Aambil for one day. I will take only one simple, bland boiled meal in the daytime, without oil, ghee, milk, curd, buttermilk, sugar, jaggery, fruits, dry fruits, and sour or spicy items, as per my guru / sangh maryada.
I will drink only boiled, filtered water from sunrise till 5:00 pm. After that I will not take any food or water (Chauvihar). If any fault happens, I ask for forgiveness.”
You can say the same in Gujarati/Hindi in your own words, but keep these points.
---
4) Small tips
- Take a Pachchakkhan you are sure you can keep.
- If something goes wrong, do alochana-prayashchit in pratikraman.
- Exact rules (salt/no salt, what grains, etc.) can differ by Shwetambar/Digambar and local maryada – always follow your guru/sangh first.
