Spiritual significance
According to Jain tradition:
- On this day, Shyambh (Shyaambh) and Pradyumna attained moksha from Bhadva’s Dungar (a part of Shatrunjay hill),
- Along with about 8.5 crore (85 million) munis who also attained liberation from there.
- Because of this, the day is remembered as one on which a very large number of souls became siddha, so Shatrunjay and this tithi are considered extremely pavitra.

Because of its link with so many souls attaining moksha, Fagun Sud Teras is seen as a day to strengthen our own vairagya (detachment) and sankalp for right conduct, using the pilgrimage and tapas to move a little closer to the path of liberation.
