In Digambar Jain view, the honest answer is:

Yes, it is possible that you and your mother can again be in the same family (even with reversed roles) in the next birth — but it is not guaranteed at all.

    1. What Jain karma theory says (simply)

    • Every soul takes birth according to its own karma.
    • Strong raaga–dvesha (attachment–aversion) between souls can create karmic links so that:
    - we meet again, - in close relations (mother–child, siblings, spouse, etc.), - sometimes with roles changed (today’s daughter may be next birth’s mother, etc).

So, from a Digambar Jain layperson standpoint:

    • “Can it happen?” → Yes, it can.
    • “Will it surely happen in the very next birth?” → No one can say ‘sure’. Only Kevali Bhagwan has perfect knowledge of such details.

    2. Important nuance from Jain dharma

Jain shastra always gives a gentle warning here:

    • Strong attachment (even loving attachment) is still bandhan (bondage).
    • Deep clinging like “I cannot live without this one person” becomes a cause to:
    - wander more in saṃsār, - take repeated births with the same or similar souls, - and repeatedly face separation, pain, fear of loss.

So while love and care for your mother are natural, Jain dharma guides:

    • Change moha (blind attachment) into maitrī (pure friendship, compassion).
    • Do seva, respect, care for her, but with the inner feeling:
    - “Her soul and my soul are both travellers; today we are mother–daughter, tomorrow roles may change, or we may be far apart. Ultimately each soul has to walk alone towards moksha.”

    3. How to make your current bond truly “good karma”

If you want your connection with your mother to be spiritually healthy:

    1. Do punya with right bhāv:

    - Serve her lovingly, without anger, demands, or expectations. - Avoid hurting her with harsh words or behaviour.

    1. Reduce moha slowly:

    - Remind yourself: “She is an independent soul (jīv), not ‘mine’.” - Be grateful for this birth together, but don’t insist on “we must be together every birth.”

    1. Pray in a Jain way:

    - You may pray like: - “If my and my mother’s karma is favourable, may we always help each other spiritually, in whatever births we take, and may both of us progress towards samyak darshan and moksha.”

This keeps your wish spiritual, not just emotional.

    4. Simple summary

    • Can you and your mother be family again next birth (even with reversed roles)?
→ Yes, it is karmically possible.
    • Is it certain?
→ No. Jain dharma does not promise this.
    • What should you focus on?
→ Use this current birth to: - love her, - serve her, - avoid hurting her, - and slowly reduce excessive attachment, - so both of you move closer to true spiritual happiness.
