deeply attached to my mother and o cannot live without her so because of our karma and immense attachment is there a good chance we can be family in the next rebirth again just our roles will be different like 1am the daughter i could be the mother and my
In Digambar Jainism, the honest answer is:
- No one can say “definitely yes, you will be mother–daughter again.”
- But it is possible that the same souls meet again in close relations (mother–daughter, siblings, etc.) if there is strong karmic bondage and attachment.
So, from a lay Digambar point of view: Is it guaranteed? – No. Is it possible? – Yes.
How Jain karma explains this
- Relations are due to karma, not wish alone
- Every close relation (mother–child, husband–wife, friend–enemy) is formed because of past karmas and present attachment/aversion. - Where you will be born next (human, animal, deva, narak) and with which souls you connect is decided by many karmas together, not only by love for one person.
- Same souls, different relations
- Jain stories (like “18 relations” – athāra sambandh) show how two souls become related in many different ways across many births: sometimes as parent–child, sometimes as husband–wife, sometimes as enemies, etc. ( jainknowledge.com) - This means: yes, the same two souls can meet again, and the role can be reversed (today she is your mother, in some birth you may be her mother).
- Why we can’t say “definitely yes”
- Your next birth depends on a huge bundle of karmas, not only on attachment to your mother. - You both might: - Take birth in different countries or families, - Or even in different gatis (one human, one deva, etc.), - Or not get a close family relation at all.
Because karmas are so complex, no Acharya or scripture gives a promise like: “you will surely be her daughter again”.
From a spiritual (Jain) view
- Very deep attachment, even if loving, is still rāga (attachment).
- Rāga binds more karma and keeps both souls in samsār longer.
- Jain dharma gently teaches:
A simple way to remember
- Can we be family again? – Possible, but not guaranteed.
- Can roles reverse (I become mother, she becomes daughter)? – Also possible according to karma.
- Is it good to cling to that hope strongly? – No, because that strong clinging itself binds more karma and more rebirths.
The best you can do right now for her and for yourself in Jainism:
- Have true affection with gratitude.
- Do puniya-karmas together: samayik, pratikraman, helping others, listening to Jain discourses.
- Pray for both souls’ right faith (samyak darshan) and progress toward moksha.
That way, whether or not you meet again as mother–daughter, your karmic connection becomes more shuddha (pure), less based on fear and clinging, and more based on genuine spiritual goodwill.
