Best mantra to chant for getting bad dreams as per jainism
In Jainism, there is no special or separate “bad dream–removal” mantra. The most powerful and universally recommended mantra for peace, protection and mental purity is:
1. Navkar (Namokar) Mantra – best to chant before sleep
Original (common Digambar / Śvetāmbara form):
Namo Arihantāṇaṁ Namo Siddhāṇaṁ Namo Ayariyāṇaṁ Namo Uvajjhāyāṇaṁ Namo Loe Savva‑Sāhūṇaṁ
Eso Pañca Namokkāro Savva‑Pāva‑Ppaṇāsano Maṅgalāṇaṁ Ca Savvesiṁ Paḍhamaṁ Havai Maṅgalaṁ ॥
Simple meaning (arth):
- Namo Arihantāṇaṁ – I bow to all Arihants (those who have destroyed inner passions while living).
- Namo Siddhāṇaṁ – I bow to all Siddhas (liberated, perfect souls).
- Namo Ayariyāṇaṁ – I bow to all Āchāryas (heads of the Jain ascetic order).
- Namo Uvajjhāyāṇaṁ – I bow to all Upādhyāyas (spiritual teachers of scriptures).
- Namo Loe Savva‑Sāhūṇaṁ – I bow to all Sādhus and Sādhvīs (monks and nuns) in the universe.
- These five bowings destroy all sins and are the highest among all auspicious things.
Why it helps with bad dreams (Jain view):
- Bad dreams are linked to restless mind and karmic bondage.
- Navkar does no wish‑fulfilling magic, but it:

2. How to use it practically at night
Before sleeping, do this calmly:
- Sit or lie down quietly, slow breathing.
- Chant Navkar Mantra at least 9, 27 or 108 times (softly or in mind), with attention.
- At the end, think:
- “May I not harm any living being in thought, word or deed.”
- If possible, also say from heart:
- “Micchāmi Dukkaḍaṁ” – “May the harm I have done (knowingly or unknowingly) be forgiven.”
This combination of Navkar + forgiveness bhāva is a very Jain and very gentle way to reduce mental disturbances, including fearful dreams.

3. Digambar / Śvetāmbara note
- Text and meaning of Navkar are essentially the same in both traditions.
- There are only small pronunciation differences (like Arihantāṇaṁ / Arihantāṇam etc.);

If bad dreams are frequent, along with chanting:
- Avoid heavy or violent content before sleeping.
- Sleep after some svādhyāy (reading/listening to Jain teachings) or pratikraman if possible.
From Jain dharma’s point of view, Navkar Mantra with right understanding and pure bhāva is the best and safest mantra to rely on.
