Life story of Gautamswami
Gautamswami was a great learned Brahmin scholar in the village of Gobbar. He was highly skilled in the Vedas, logic, and debate. Because of his deep knowledge, he had many students and was considered very proud of his scholarship.
When Lord Mahavir came to Mithila during his spiritual journey, Gautam Swami went to debate with him. His intention was to defeat Mahavir in discussion. But when he met the Lord, Mahavir answered all his questions with such depth, clarity, and compassion that Gautam Swami became completely transformed.
He realized that Mahavir was not an ordinary teacher, but a fully enlightened Tirthankar. At that moment, Gautam Swami surrendered his pride, became a disciple, and accepted the path of Jain Dharma.
