Jainism teaches that the universe (lok) is eternal and has a specific shape, often described as "lokakash" (cosmic space), which is shaped like a standing human figure or a cosmic man (lokapurusha). According to Jain cosmology, there are directions (disha) within this universe, and the universe has boundaries. However, beyond the universe is "aloka" (non-universe, void), where there is nothing—no matter, no souls, no time, and no space as we understand it.

So, according to Jain philosophy, each direction (disha) within the universe does have an end, which is the boundary between loka and aloka. Beyond this end, there is only empty, infinite void (aloka), which cannot be traversed or inhabited by souls or matter.
