Wgat is diksha
In Jainism, diksha means initiatory acceptance of monkhood or nunhood. It is the sacred step in which a person renounces worldly life, family attachments, possessions, and comforts, and dedicates life fully to spiritual discipline, ahimsa, self-control, and liberation.
In simple words:
- For householders: leaving worldly life
- For monks/nuns: entering the ascetic path
- Purpose: to progress toward moksha through renunciation and spiritual practice
Diksha is a very important and serious vow in Jain Dharma.
