If someone returns from diksha because no one took care of him/her. And he/she feels like taking diksha again as it wasnt his/her fault. Can he/she take diksha again?
In Jain Dharma, taking diksha again is generally possible, if the person had left due to unavoidable circumstances and later sincerely wishes to पुनः स्वीकार करना the monastic vow with true vairagya.
However, this is not a simple personal decision. It must be accepted by the Ācārya or senior monks/nuns of that tradition, after proper examination of:
- the person’s inner sincerity,
- whether the previous return was truly due to lack of care / unavoidable support issues,
- whether the person is now firmly ready for the ascetic life,
- and whether the traditional rules of that sampradāya allow it in that case.
In Jain Dharma, diksha is based on complete renunciation and steadiness. So if someone returns because of circumstances, and later wants to take diksha again with genuine repentance and determination, there is no general prohibition in principle. But the final acceptance depends on the guru’s approval and the specific tradition’s discipline.
So the short answer is: Yes, it may be possible to take diksha again, if the Acharya permits and the person is considered truly qualified again.
