Is it better to throw out prohibited food or eat it anyway?
In Jain dharma, it is better not to eat prohibited food. If food is abhojya or violates your vows, do not consume it knowingly. Eating it anyway goes against ahimsa, restraint, and purity of conduct.
So the right choice is:
- Do not eat it
- Avoid making it a habit
- Remain careful in future so it is not prepared or served
If it is already in front of you, the main principle is to protect the vow first and not knowingly commit a fault by eating it.
