How can we trust jain monks with our children. There are so many disputes. Everyones becoming selfish

    5 months ago 53

Trust in Jain monks should be based on conduct, discipline, and accountability, not on label alone.

In Jain Dharma, a true monk is expected to follow:

    • Ahimsa
    • Satya
    • Aparigraha
    • Brahmacharya
    • Anekantavada
    • strict restraint in conduct, speech, and association

So if there are disputes, the right Jain approach is:

    • Do not generalize about all monks because of some cases.
    • Observe behavior carefully over time.
    • Keep children under proper parental supervision.
    • Prefer organized, transparent settings for any religious learning.
    • Choose teachers and monks who are known for humility, discipline, and simplicity.
    • If anything feels inappropriate, distance yourself immediately.

Jain Dharma also teaches vivek — right discernment. Trust should never mean blind trust. It should be wise, cautious, and based on dharma and conduct.

If people are becoming selfish, Jainism says the answer is:

    • increase self-restraint
    • reduce attachment and ego
    • practice forgiveness
    • keep the child close to satsang, values, and family guidance

A simple Jain principle is: Respect the saintly, but verify the saintliness.

For children, the safest path is always:

    • parental involvement
    • clear boundaries
    • community transparency
    • and choosing only those with a long record of pure conduct

If you want, I can also give a Jain checklist for judging whether a monk or religious teacher is trustworthy.
