I have sex with my wife...but there is always feeling attached to it waf to do
In Jain Dharma, sexual attachment is a form of rāga and it increases bondage. But for a gṛhastha (householder), marriage and family life are accepted, so the goal is restraint, not suppression by force.
What you can do:
- Use sex only with awareness and necessity, not for constant indulgence.
- Reduce attachment in the mind by remembering that the body is temporary.
- Practice Brahmacharya in the household way: self-control, moderation, and purity of thought.
- Avoid lustful thoughts, fantasies, and excess excitement before or after sex.
- Do swādhyāya, meditation, and pratikraman regularly to weaken attachment.
- Keep your relationship with your wife based on respect, care, and dharma, not only desire.
- If possible, observe simple limits for yourself, such as fixed days of restraint.
- Strengthen vairāgya by reflecting: this pleasure is temporary, but karma-bondage is lasting.
Important:
- Jain Dharma does not ask a householder to hate or reject spouse.
- It asks you to live responsibly with less attachment.
- For monks and nuns, complete celibacy is the path; for laypeople, controlled conduct is the path.
A simple inner prayer before and after intimacy can help: “May my mind remain pure, restrained, and free from attachment.”
