What is the Shah gotra
In Jain usage, “Shah” is usually a surname or family name, not a single fixed Jain gotra.
- Gotra in Jain tradition generally refers to a clan or lineage.
- Shah is commonly used by many Jain families, especially in Gujarat and Rajasthan, and different Shah families may belong to different gotras.
- So there is no one universal “Shah gotra.”
If a family wants the exact gotra, it is usually determined by their ancestral lineage and family records, not by the surname alone.
