In Jainism, the oldest and most revered scriptures are the Agamas (also called Āgamas or Siddhānta). These are the canonical texts believed to contain the teachings of Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara. Among these, the Acharanga Sutra (Ācāranga Sūtra) is regarded as the oldest Jain granth (scripture). It primarily deals with the conduct, discipline, and rules for Jain monks and is written in Ardhamagadhi Prakrit. The Acharanga Sutra is especially significant in the Śvētāmbara tradition and is considered one of the earliest surviving texts of Jainism.
