People have started jain concerts nowadays. Which is includes males and females dancing together with improper clothing and food being served after sunset with onions garlic in it. And is advertised as a jain bhakti concert. It doesn’t follow any jain rit
From a Jain dharma perspective, an event should not be called a Jain bhakti program if it includes practices contrary to Jain vows and मर्यादा, such as:
- improper or indecent clothing
- mixed dancing that leads to sensuality or distraction
- food served after sunset
- food containing onion and garlic
- a general atmosphere of entertainment rather than devotion
In Jain tradition, bhakti should increase:
- sattva
- vairagya
- vinaya
- śuddhata
- ahimsa
- brahmacharya
- aparigraha
If the event is only using Jain songs but its conduct is against Jain conduct, then it is not truly aligned with Jain bhakti. The name “Jain” should not be used only for singing; the behavior, food, discipline, and भावना should also be Jain.
Jain point of view
A proper Jain devotional gathering should be:- respectful and disciplined
- free from vulgarity or attraction
- conducted with modest dress and restraint
- without prohibited foods like onion and garlic
- without food after sunset, according to Jain practice
- centered on devotion, not entertainment
Conclusion
So, such a program may be commercially branded as “Jain bhakti concert,” but from a pure Jain viewpoint, it is not a proper Jain bhakti event if it ignores basic Jain principles.A Jain devotional program should uplift the soul, not weaken restraint.
