Certainly. If you want to learn Jain Dharma from the beginning and live Jain ācār in daily life, start slowly and step by step.

Step 1: Learn the basic foundation

First understand these core Jain ideas:
    • Ahiṃsā — non-violence in thought, speech, and action
    • Satya — truthfulness
    • Achaurya — not taking what is not given
    • Brahmacharya — restraint and purity
    • Aparigraha — non-attachment, limited possessions

These are the main pillars of Jain living.

Step 2: Begin with the 5 small vows in daily life

As a beginner, try to practice these in simple ways:
    1. Avoid hurting any living being

    - Be careful while walking, cooking, cleaning, and speaking.

    1. Speak truthfully and gently

    - Say what is true, but also what is kind and useful.

    1. Do not take anything without permission

    - Respect others’ belongings, time, and trust.

    1. Practice self-control

    - Reduce sensual overindulgence, anger, and unnecessary habits.

    1. Keep your needs limited

    - Buy less, waste less, and live simply.

Step 3: Follow basic Jain daily conduct

Start with a small daily routine:
    • Wake up with a calm mind
    • Pray to the Tirthankars
    • Recall the Navakar Mantra
    • Reflect on your actions from the previous day
    • Avoid harm in food, speech, and behavior
    • Do pratikraman or repentance in your own simple way

Step 4: Learn the Navakar Mantra

This is the most important mantra in Jain Dharma.

    Its purpose is:

    • to bow to the Arihants, Siddhas, Acharyas, Upadhyayas, and Sadhus
    • to develop humility, respect, and right faith

You should recite it daily with devotion and understanding.

Step 5: Learn the 9 tattvas

These are very important for Jain knowledge:
    1. Jiva — soul
    2. Ajiva — non-living matter
    3. Punya — meritorious karma
    4. Paap — harmful karma
    5. Asrava — influx of karma
    6. Bandha — bondage of karma
    7. Samvara — stopping karma
    8. Nirjara — shedding karma
    9. Moksha — liberation

If you understand these well, Jain philosophy becomes clear.

Step 6: Learn the path of liberation

    The Jain path is:
    • Right Faith — Samyak Darshan
    • Right Knowledge — Samyak Jnana
    • Right Conduct — Samyak Charitra

This is called the Ratnatraya, the three jewels of Jainism.

Step 7: Start with simple vows in practical life

    For a householder, begin with:
    • vegetarian food
    • avoiding root vegetables if possible
    • less harm in cooking and living
    • regular prayer and repentance
    • controlled speech and anger
    • charity and helping others
    • simple living

Step 8: Read beginner Jain texts

Start with easy and simple learning:
    • Navakar Mantra
    • Bhagwan Mahavir’s life and teachings
    • Tattvartha Sutra basic ideas
    • Samaysar later, when your understanding grows
    • simple articles on Jain ācār and ethics

Step 9: Practice Jain ācār in daily habits

Jain ācār means your conduct should reflect Jain values:
    • eat with awareness
    • avoid waste
    • do not harm insects or small beings knowingly
    • keep anger low
    • speak less and with meaning
    • live with simplicity
    • respect monks, nuns, elders, and the sangh

Step 10: Associate with good Jain company

    Learn from:
    • Jain temples
    • learned Jain teachers
    • satsang
    • religious classes
    • scriptures and pravachans

Good company helps your understanding become strong.

Step 11: Take one vow at a time

Do not try to become perfect all at once. Take one practice, master it, then move to the next.

    Example:

    • first learn Navakar Mantra
    • then learn 5 vows
    • then learn 9 tattvas
    • then begin pratikraman
    • then deepen scriptural study

Step 12: Make your life peaceful and disciplined

The real aim of Jain Dharma is:
    • reduce violence
    • reduce attachment
    • reduce ego
    • purify the soul
    • move toward moksha

    Very simple beginner routine

    You can begin like this:

    Morning

    • Recite Navakar Mantra
    • Think: “Today I will avoid harm, anger, and greed.”

    Daytime

    • Speak carefully
    • Eat mindfully
    • Avoid unnecessary harm

    Evening

    • Reflect on mistakes
    • Repent for wrong actions
    • Pray again

    Most important principle

Start with small, sincere steps. In Jain Dharma, progress is made through awareness, discipline, compassion, and self-restraint.

If you live these steadily, Jain ācār will naturally grow in your life.
