Bhagwan Mahavir Swami was about 42 years old when Chandanbala gave him the udumbara/udumbar bowl offering as alms. This happened in the 12th year of His austerity; since He renounced the world at about 30 years of age, that makes Him around 42 at that time. ( jainsattva.com)
