why is buying animals to save them right, but mahavir swami never used his power to prevent violence from being done to any animal by butchers

In Jain Dharma, buying animals to protect them can be a compassionate act, but Mahavir Swami did not stop violence by using miraculous power because Jainism does not approve of forceful interference, even for a good cause.

    The reason is:

    1. Ahimsa is primary

Mahavir Swami taught complete non-violence. He did not support killing or harming, even to “fix” evil by force.

    1. Freedom of karma is respected

Living beings experience the results of their own karmas. A Tirthankar shows the path of liberation through teaching, not by controlling everyone’s actions.

    1. Violence cannot be ended by violence of power

If one stops butchers by force, that is still an act of force. Jain Dharma values inner transformation over external compulsion.

    1. Mahavir Swami’s role was spiritual guidance

He revealed the way of dharma, restraint, and compassion. He did not come to rule the world or remove every suffering by miracle.

    1. Buying animals is a different matter

If done with pure compassion and without harm to others, buying animals to save them may reduce immediate violence. But even then, Jain ethics ask: - Was any harm increased elsewhere? - Was it done with attachment or with true compassion? - Did it support a larger system of violence?

So the deeper Jain answer is:

    • Compassion is good
    • Force is not the Jain way
    • Liberation comes through right conduct, not miraculous control

Mahavir Swami showed that the highest victory is victory over one’s own passions, not over others by power.
