In Jain Dharma, a muni cannot “save” a soul from its own karmic death in the worldly sense, because every jiva experiences birth and death according to its own karma. A muni can teach, warn, inspire, and reduce violence, but he cannot override another being’s karma.

If an animal is being killed, Jain understanding is:

• The animal’s physical death happens because of the violent action and its own karmic bondage.
• The muni may still try to stop the violence, speak the truth, and create compassion.
• But if the karmic result is already unfolding, he cannot force that jiva to remain alive forever.

So the role of a Jain muni is not “miracle-saving” in a worldly way. His role is to:

• preach ahimsa
• reduce harm
• protect life where possible
• guide beings toward liberation

Also, in Jainism, the deepest “saving” is not just preventing one death. It is helping the soul stop new karmic bondage and move toward moksha.

So yes, from a worldly view, someone may still die in front of a muni. But from a Jain view, the muni has still done the highest possible work by upholding nonviolence and showing the path of dharma.
