In Jain dharma, a śrāvaka should not be indifferent thinking, “It is only karma, so I will do nothing.”

    A right Jain response is:

    • Help if you can, with ahimsa and care
    • Reduce suffering
    • Do not create new violence while helping
    • Keep a pure intention of compassion, not attachment or pride

So if a muni is burning, a śrāvaka should try to assist in a non-violent and appropriate way — for example by alerting others, bringing help, or using the least harmful means available.

    Important Jain understanding

    • Karma is real, but karma is not an excuse for negligence
    • Jainism teaches karuṇā and dayā along with ahimsa
    • One should not say, “Let it happen because of karma,” and stand aside when help is possible

    About Tīrthaṅkaras

A Tīrthaṅkara may endure suffering due to old karmas, but that does not mean a śrāvaka should imitate passive indifference. The spiritual ideal is to remain equanimous inwardly, but compassionate and helpful outwardly.

    In short

Help, if help is possible and does not violate ahimsa. Do not use karma as a reason to avoid compassion.

If you want, I can also explain this from the perspective of ātmā-bhāvanā, dayā, and the six essential duties of a śrāvaka.
