According to strict Jain principles, boiled water should be used as soon as possible, and traditionally it is generally treated as acceptable only for a short period after boiling — about one muhūrta (roughly 48 minutes), and not kept overnight.

So in Texas in April, the location or weather does not change the Jain rule. The rule is based on Jain discipline, not on the climate. After that short period, it is usually considered no longer suitable for strict observance.

In very strict practice:

• Boil and use the water promptly
• Do not store it for long
• Do not keep it till the next day
• If there is any doubt, boil fresh water again
