Texts say pandavas rama krishna were tgeir gods and believed in shankar whereas jain scriptures say they believed in jainism. Since we cant go in the past how do we prove

    4 months ago 56

In Jain Dharma, this kind of question is answered by pramāṇa and āgama, not by direct time-travel proof.

    Short answer

We cannot physically prove every ancient event today, because we cannot go back in time. So in Jain tradition, we rely on:
    1. Jain Āgamas and approved scriptures
    2. Ācārya-paramparā and traditional teaching
    3. Internal consistency of Jain philosophy and narratives
    4. Reason and comparison with other accounts

    Important point

Different traditions describe the same historical figures differently.
    • Jain scriptures often present figures like Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, and the Pāṇḍavas in a Jain framework.
    • Other traditions present them according to their own belief system.

So the issue is not only “who was right,” but also:

    • Which tradition is being followed?
    • Which textual source is being accepted?

    How Jainism treats this

In Jainism, truth is understood through anekāntavāda:
    • Reality has multiple aspects.
    • One tradition may preserve one aspect, another tradition another aspect.
    • A claim should be judged within its own scriptural and philosophical context.

So if Jain scriptures say they were connected with Jain Dharma, that is accepted within Jain tradition. If another text says otherwise, that is its own tradition’s view.

    Can we “prove” it?

Not in the modern scientific sense.

But within Jainism, we can say:

    • Jain scriptures are the authoritative source for Jain believers
    • Their accounts are considered valid because they come from omniscient Tīrthaṅkaras and the Jain tradition
    • External traditions may not accept that authority, and that is expected

    Best Jain response

    A Jain would say:

    > We cannot reconstruct the past with absolute worldly certainty, but for a follower of Jain Dharma, the authority of Jain scriptures is sufficient. Other traditions may hold different views, and Jainism understands this through anekāntavāda.

If you want, I can also explain this specifically from the Jain view of Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, and the Pāṇḍavas.
